Chambers in North Rhine-Westphalia
In Germany, all traders and numerous liberal professions are organized in so-called chambers. These chambers, as bodies governed by public law, are an institution of professional self-government. They represent the interests of their members and also implement sovereign tasks economically and cost-effectively.
The chambers see themselves as a critical partner of politics, as an independent lawyer of the market and as a customer-oriented service provider of the economy. They offer a wide range of services and are the first point of contact for their members when it comes to questions of starting a business and setting up a business, training and further education as well as numerous other business and career-related topics. The chambers of freelancers are also responsible for admission to the profession and also exercise professional supervision.
Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) NRW
The Chamber of Industry and Commerce of North Rhine-Westphalia (IHK NRW) is the regional working group of the 16 chambers of industry and commerce in North Rhine-Westphalia and thus represents the interests of the 16 Chamber of Industry and Commerce in North Rhine-Westphalia vis-à-vis state politics and state government, administrations, associations and other organisations.

West German Chamber of Crafts
The Westdeutsche Handwerkskammertag (West German Chamber of Crafts) represents the interests of the Chambers of Crafts for the benefit of crafts in NRW. Its self-image is derived from the tasks of its members, the Chambers of Crafts: As economic self-administration, these tasks take over in place of the state and carry them out competently, close to the company and at their own expense. They are service providers for company owners and employees. They strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs and thus their future viability. Above all, the topics of digitization, sustainability and securing skilled workers are high on the agenda.
